After Opera Macbeth, music director Riccardo Chailly returned to Verdi with Un Ballo in Maschera, an opera that marked the composer's unprecedented emotional and sensory height. The new work is Marco Arturo Marelli's directorial debut at La Scala. The quality of the cast is the basis for the success of the film: the protagonist is Francisco Melli, who added another portrait to the Verdi Character Gallery at La Scala, with the long-awaited Sandra La Dvanovsky partnered with the outstanding Verdi baritone Luca Salsi.
